With roughly one-third of their patient base using Medicare as their means of dental coverage, Washington Dental Group — a part of btyDental — had found that many weren’t coming in for preventative care and struggled to afford certain treatments. Helping patients receive the care they needed was important to BTY, and they sought to increase treatment acceptance and improve patient retention across their practices.
And that’s exactly what Clerri (formerly Kleer and Membersy) did for them.
- Provide a better, more affordable coverage option for their Medicare and other uninsured patients
- Improve patient compliance for preventative dental care
- Help patients afford additional treatment
- Increase treatment acceptance

Thoughtful, customized plans built to make patient buy-in easy
With the help of Clerri’s powerful software and team of experts, Chelsea and her team were able to build fully customized plans that perfectly met patient needs. The savings and value were obvious to patients, and as a result, the BTY team was able to convert more than 85% of patients to the new plan almost immediately.
Easy, personalized training and onboarding across practices
Clerri's Customer Success team helped Chelsea every step of the way as they trained the teams at each of the 5 locations one-by-one, making the onboarding process an easy, fast — and even pleasant experience.
Our goal wasn’t to generate revenue, it was patient retention and case acceptance. 90% of the time, if we’re recommending a certain treatment and the patient isn’t covered, we’ll present them with the option of joining Clerri.
Improved patient compliance and treatment acceptance
Providing patients with savings that both incentivized them to maintain their regular preventative care and helped them afford additional treatment, Washington Dental Group was able to reach their main goal of increasing treatment acceptance.
Improving operational efficiencies with automated plan management
Washington Dental Group was able to automate a large chunk of plan management with Keer, taking the manual labor out of administration and creating greater efficiency among the office staff. Unlike their previous homegrown plan, Clerri automatically created digital records of patient membership plans, which has helped staff across practices immensely. Having the ability to add the Clerri widget to practice websites allowed patients to sign up directly, with minimal staff involvement.
A new revenue stream — with little effort
Within 13 months of launching their Clerri membership, Washington Dental Group enrolled 514 members across their 5 practices, generating an additional $157,033 for the practice. Although profitability wasn’t their main goal, having a recurring revenue stream with very little effort has been a nice bonus for the group.
Even patients with outside coverage will sometimes opt into Clerri to save money on treatment that their plan doesn’t cover. For our needs and goals, Clerri was incredibly effective.
